Finding the perfect balance between tightness/strength and weakness/flexibility in our hamstrings presents an interesting challenge. Too much tension and the string breaks. Too little and we lack support in our standing poses and forward bends. By transforming tightness into strength and weakness into flexibility we can bring the two into harmony, not unlike the challenge of tuning the strings on a guitar. In this class we will explore dynamic actions that maintain that fine balance.

PRANA VIDYA (The Science Of Prana)
Teacher: Jim Bennitt
Class Code: 33JBT
Prana, the vital life force, is often spoken of in the Yoga world today but rarely discussed in any detail. The ancient yogi's practiced hatha yoga to build and redirect this vital life force not only to keep themselves in balance, but to also unleash their highest spiritual potential. Much of today's Yoga culture has lost this quest and use hatha yoga to sculpt a lean, strong body. While this is good, we can also work on deeper levels of physical, mental and spiritual health by learning and experiencing the more subtle realms of prana. In this unique class, we will first discuss the different aspects of prana (vayus) and how to build them. Next will be simple breathing and meditation techniques to help us redirect prana to where we may be deficient. Open to all levels. There will be little to no asana in this practice. Please bring a blanket.
