Janet Stone
Flowing within the Five Elements (Maha Bhutas)

ijs

The interplay of prana (life energy) and movement creates a fierce expression of what is beautiful inside and out. In this workshop we experience the five elements--earth, water, air, fire and ether—out of which body, breath, and the entire material world are made. When we learn to bring these elements into harmony, we discover a new edge where we learn to be true to ourselves and bring joy to those around us. These building blocks of life reveal themselves through backbends to open your heart and build strength, forward bends to open your hips and surrender to grace, twists to wring out the old and open up to what's new, and breath to ignite the spirit of gratitude and wisdom within. Based in Janet's teacher training program this session is open to all levels.

Hands on Adjustments

ILL

In this all day workshop we will practice safe and effective hands-on adjustments.  We will discuss the nature of adjusting and the quality of the energies that are shared between the teacher/assistant and practitioner and how to approach an adjustment and how to release and step out and also to witness if what we have offered has helped the student.  We will practice assists from many different pose groups – standing sequence poses – warriors, lunges, balancing poses, inversions, backbends, twists, forward folds – time for questions and of course savasana adjustments.

Breaking Down Sun Salutes

IBK

Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a wonderful combination of physical movement and breath technique; when placed together in a specific and integrated method, it can be powerful and dynamic. Many students find it to be a ritualistic, meditative experience that can strengthen the bridge between body and mind. Sometimes, however, when focusing on movement the importance of alignment can get lost in translation. We will take time to breakdown and learn the fundamental alignments of the postures and transitions. This in depth workshop will be an examination and tuning of vinyasa to develop a clean and integrative approach to getting stronger, developing foundation, and extension toward opening.

Yin Yoga Anatomy Intensive

IJB

Yin Yoga is a very simple practice. We settle into an asana for 3-7 minutes and slowly relax our muscles to allow the deeper drier tissues–the connective tissues that wrap our muscles and make up our joint capsules–to be safely and therapeutically stretched, stimulated and strengthened.

The alignment rules of the postures are also simple, but more importantly they are functional and organic: We listen to our bodies and lead ourselves into the shape that follows the natural contours of our spine, pelvis and hips.

In this training, we will analyze, observe and practice all of these elements of Yin Yoga in depth. We will examine ourselves on a personal level with ancient meditation techniques that guide us into a steady awareness of the changing sensations in the postures.

Look forward to exploring:
